The start was quite boring; it wasn't until the 2nd lap the race became interesting. Max lost the car and therefore Carlos was able to overtake him and take the lead of the race. Then lap 4 max was smoking and saying the car was loose, On lap 5 we saw max out of the race due to brake problem which lead to the fire we saw coming from one of his tyres.
On lap 17 we saw Carlos Sainz pit and Alonso take the lead but whilst that was happening Hamilton pulled to the side at turn 10 with an engine failure and due to where he stopped we saw the Virtual safety car, which benefited Alonso as he was yet to pit, Sainz took the lead from Alonso, and now with two drivers out there was now 2 points to get but who would it be. Would it be Albon who is driving his teammates chassis after his crash in fp1 or would it be one of the alpines who are yet to score points
Going onto lap 26 things were still fairly quiet for the Spaniard leading however further down the grid was a different story because Nico Hulkenberg was chasing down the Williams of Alex Albon for p10
lap 27 we saw the red bull of Sergio Perez overtake the Aston martin of Fernando Alonso and earn p5
On lap 29 McLaren sent out team orders which meant that the aussie Oscar Piastri who was running in p3 would swap with his teammate Lando, this did upset the crowd a little bit due to the fact it was Oscars home race.
lap 37 and for the third race of the season we saw yet another slow pit stop at Kick Sauber
On lap 38 saw Hulkenberg defending his p10 position from Albon, and going into lap 45 Albon and Williams chances of scoring a point are looking slim as he is still in p11 with the other haas of Magnussen in front,
After pitting on lap 46 George being on fresher tyres then Alonso meant that he starts chasing him down in the hopes for p6,
lap 48 saw Carlos Sainz is leading by 5 seconds and also on lap 48 we also saw Pierre Gasly get a 5 second penalty due to pit lane exit infringement,
lap 54 with 4 laps left Russell was closing in on Alonso hoping to get p6,
Possibly over for Sainz on lap 56 after he said his tyres aren't feeling great but can he make it through the last 2 laps without getting passed by his teammate, who was closing the gap
lap 57 Russell still can't seem to get past Fernando for p6 despite having DRS,
Finally onto the final lap Lap 58 saw a very big crash from the Mercedes of George Russell where his car ended up on the side after he hit the wall. He confirmed he was okay but due to this we saw another VSC which meant that Carlos had won the grand prix.
What a dramatic race that was from lap 2
Mega drive from Carlos Sainz who went from missing the last race due to appendicitis and having to have surgery and recovering to winning the Australian gp and breaking Max's winning streak again just like he did in Singapore 23. After crossing the line the radio message we heard from Carlos was saying" tell Charles to come close to me and we'll celebrate this one together”. I'm not crying, you are.
The aftermath of Russell's crash saw him plummeting to 17 and also DNF which saw Both HAAS cars score points and Albon just missing out. We also saw the visa cash app rb of Yuki Tsunoda score their first points of the season after coming in p8, 4 places ahead of his aussie teammate Daniel Ricciardo who finished his home race in p12 after qualifying 18th due to his lap time being deleted .
Joining Sainz on the podium was his teammate Charles Leclerc which made Ferrari score their 86th 1-2 finish in their history. In P3 we saw Carlos's former teammate and McLaren driver Lando Norris.
During the podium we saw Carlos Sainz sr and Carlos Sainz jr having a moment during the Spanish national anthem and after that the Italian national anthem was played and we saw the whole of Ferrari singing along to it.
An eventful race weekend to say the least and I'm sure red bull and Mercedes are now looking towards japan next weekend.
At 09:07 am we got the breaking news that Alonso has been given a 20 second post race penalty which now bumps him to P8 and promotes his teammate Lance Stroll to P6 and Yuki Tsunoda to P7
