Lights out and away Max Verstappen went . Max got a great start and was gone. His teammate Perez was clear of Lando Norris as he was fighting with Carlos Sainz who was trying to get past him. Behind them at turn 3 Alex Albon and Daniel Ricciardo crashed bringing out the red flag.
Upon looking closer into the crash we saw that Albon was going round the outside of Ricciardo who was getting squeezed by other cars meaning he moved across slightly and Albon’s front wing clipped Ricciardo's rear and that sent them both spinning into the barrier and both out of the race.
Because Some drivers completed a sector it meant that the grid positions when we got the restart wouldn’t be the same as the starting grid and instead it would be from where the drivers were after sector one. So home hero Yuki Tsunoda who started in 10th would when we get the restart would start 11th.
After like 20 minutes we got the news that the restart would be a standing start.
The restart was clean, the front four holding their position. However further back in the grid is where the driver with the best start is, Yuki Tsunoda restarted the race in 12th and has managed to get himself up into p9.
On lap 4 the Alpine driver Esteban Ocon was complaining that his teammate Gasly “gave me a hit on the side”
By lap 12 we had 2 drivers pit and now Norris became the latest driver to enter the pits as he was struggling in p3. They put on the hards and he came out in p10.
Tyre degradation seems to be the thing that's doing it for the McLaren cars now as Piastri pits on lap 13 and swapped to the C1s and comes out behind Logan Sargeant in P12
On lap 14 Zhou had retired due to a gearbox issue and Mercedes had swapped their drivers around as Russell was showing more pace then Lewis.
Verstappen pits on lap 17 and Leclerc takes the lead of the grand prix. Leading the race 3.6s from Verstappen but Leclerc still needs to pit
Max retakes the lead on lap 21 and further back Sainz is looking to make a move on Russell now after making the move on his teammate Lewis Hamilton on lap 20
Lap 29 and both Alpines have dropped down the order despite their new upgrades
The race leader comes back into the pits for his second stop on lap 35 and comes out right behind the new race leader Carlos Sainz.
Lap 37 Sainz pits from race lead after struggling on his mediums that he had on for 21 laps
Yellow flag on lap 42 as Sargeant locked up and had gone straight into the gravel at degner 2 but somehow kept himself out the barrier and reversed back onto the track determined to finish his race.
Sainz passed Norris on lap 42 and is now behind his teammate who is told not to lose time fighting with Sainz as they are fighting Norris.
Fernando Alonso was giving Piastri DRS on lap 50 to help him fight Russell however Russell tries to dive down the inside of Piastri and ends up forcing him wide and poor Piastri had to cut the apex. This incident has been noted but how will they see it?.
Piastri went wide into turn 16 on the penultimate lap which meant that Russell was able to close the gap and on the final lap Russel makes the move going into turn 1 and it stocks
Across the line goes Max followed by Sergio then followed by the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz
And for the first time ever at his home race Yuki Tsunoda scores points for the Visa cash app RB team.
After this race Max Verstappen is leading the championship with 77 points followed by his teammate Sergio who has moved up 1 place in the championship with 64 points and behind them two you have the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc in 3rd with 59 points and the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz in 4th with 55 points.
